VISION

As host of the 2060 International Summer Games, Los Angeles will blend smarter city innovations with the values of excellence, inspiration, respect, and equality, to support and celebrate healthy competition and collaboration through sports.

Smarter LA 2060

LA has become a global leader in smart city design. Now, with the unveiling of a new multi-story transportation system, and innovations in mobility and construction, LA is on track to be a “smarter” city in 2060: intuitive and responsive to the needs of its users, as well as its ecosystems.

Freeways to Greenways

Traditional freeways and major arterials will be obsolete. Magnetic-levitation lanes will service upper transportation levels, increasing vehicle capacity 10-fold. Unused roadways will be repurposed as paths for foot traffic and self-propelled vehicles, as well as public venues, greenspace, and urban farms.

Smart Mobility

Level 8 autonomy shape-shifting vehicles will populate mag-lev lanes. Equipped with Responsive Reconfiguration Technology (RRT), they accommodate varying passenger loads and offer reactive shape configurations, almost negating the need for private vehicle ownership. In 2060, locals and visitors from earth, and from Mars colony ZGF-1, will enjoy the International Summer Games experience and the city of Los Angeles via public transportation routes curated and mapped around events, peak hours, and other factors. Among many LA 2060 experiential and marketing firsts, commuters may load Games smart tickets with their preferences, which will be assessed in real time to connect supporters of the same sports.

Smart Venues

Investment in infrastructure and venues required of host cities can be a detrimental expense. Smart, marketable decisions by the City of LA include: integrating RRT into new and existing 2060 sporting venues to create flexible, transmuting structures with full accessibility for those less able; as well as embracing Virtual Viewing opportunities through pop-up sites and mobile devices.
