SMART mobility

Getting around at the games

Level 8 autonomy shape-shifting vehicles will populate mag-lev lanes. Equipped with Responsive Reconfiguration Technology (RRT), they accommodate varying passenger loads and offer reactive shape configurations, almost negating the need for private vehicle ownership. In 2060, locals and visitors from earth, and from Mars colony ZGF-1, will enjoy the International Summer Games experience and the city of Los Angeles via public transportation routes curated and mapped around events, peak hours, and other factors. Among many LA 2060 experiential and marketing firsts, commuters may load Games smart tickets with their preferences, which will be assessed in real time to connect supporters of the same sports.

Key Features of RRT Vehicles

The RRT vehicles have been designed to respond to passenger loads and preferences, as well as able to reconfigure to engage with and become components of RRT-enabled architecture. Built using the same diagrid-based structural system and ETFE-3000 materials as Games venues and other RRT architecture, as well as the mag-lev mobility system itself, the interactions and transitions between forms are seamless and highly sustainable.

Vehicle interiors can transition between three different modalities. Dependent on the type of vehicle (public or private) and the distance to be traveled, these options may be controlled by occupants or could be pre-programmed for collective comfort. The three modalities include:

  1. Observation Mode: The vehicle becomes partially or entirely transparent, providing occupants with crystal clear views over the landscape. The total transparency setting creates a "glass bottom" effect, giving a theme park-like experience.

  2. Cinema-Surround Mode: This program turns all interior surfaces into an interactive display, offering a 360-degree entertainment experience.

  3. Meditation Mode: Vehicle opacity may be controlled on a sliding scale to fade-out passing scenery, dim the cabin, or achieve total darkness.

Vehicle types

Compact (Red Vehicle)

These vehicle pods feature simple interiors, and can accommodate up to 10 occupants seated and 10 standing. Intended for local public transportation, these pods lend themselves to linking with others to form a chain but may operate individually.

Mid-Size (Orange Vehicle)

Allowing for up to 15 riders seated, these pods are intended for short-distance travel. Mid-size vehicles possess an ETFE-3000 membrane mid-section that allows it to expand to comfortably accommodate up to 15 additional seated passengers.

Large (Blue Vehicle)

This large-configuration vehicle allows for up to eight occupants in maximum comfort. Intended for longer range travel, or simply those who desire more personal space, the large pods are outfitted with luxury seating that converts to lie-flat beds with privacy screens. Luxe, fully customizable interiors are complimented with an array of optional accessories, as well as on-demand exterior customization. This vehicle can integrate into assigned docking stations at smart venues and transform into private spectator seating pods.

Extra Large (Grey Vehicle)

The largest configuration of the RRT vehicles, the extra large pod includes all features and options offered with the large pods; however, it also features an expansion membrane that enables the vehicle to accept up to eight additional passengers with lie-flat bed capabilities, or a total of 20 passengers in comfortable upright seating only.
